Rødby is a spot on the south coast of Lolland, facing the Femern Belt separating Denmark from Germany. The spot offers southern exposure with good fetch across the strait. South to west winds create the best onshore to side-onshore conditions. Close to Rødbyhavn, it's an interesting alternative in southern Denmark.
Open all year round
Intermediate
Choppy to rough water in the Femern Belt depending on wind. Sandy bottom. Waves possible in strong south or southwest winds with the long fetch across the strait. Coastal current possible.
WARNING: Fehmarn tunnel construction zone east of Rødbyhavn — major maritime construction site with exclusion zones (tunnel expected ~2029). Check current navigation restrictions. Heavy maritime traffic in the Femern Belt (Rødby-Puttgarden ferries every 30 min, cargo ships). Do not venture into the strait. Coastal current in strong winds. Rocks just below the surface south of the breakwater at nearby Kramnitse.
