Overview

Parkland Beach is a launch spot on the north shore of Gull Lake, a resort lake in central Alberta, between Lacombe and Ponoka, at 901 m altitude.

Gull Lake stretches about 10 km north to south, offering good fetch with south or north winds. Parkland Beach provides access with beach and parking. Southwest prairie winds are the most productive. Season from June to September.

Good quality fresh water. Temperature of 19-22°C in summer. Sandy to muddy bottom. The N-S lake offers good fetch with south winds. Moderate chop. Average depth (~10 m).

Hazards

Busy recreational lake — boat traffic. Swimming areas to respect. Frequent prairie thunderstorms with lightning. Blue-green algae possible in late summer.
