Katakolo is a spot near the cruise port of Katakolo, on the west coast of the Peloponnese in Ilia. The port, a starting point for excursions to the archaeological site of Olympia, offers a partially protected bay with interesting conditions for kitesurfing in NW Maestro.
The Katakolo cape position creates semi-protected water to the south, with channeled wind and slightly different conditions than the open beaches further north.
Afternoon sessions with the NW Maestro. The cape offers a semi-protected sailing zone. Avoid sailing when cruise ships are in port — maritime traffic makes the area dangerous.
Semi-protected water by the cape. Moderate chop. Sandy and rocky bottom in places. Clear, warm water (24-27°C in summer).

Open all year round
Parking at Katakolo port and along the coastal road. The village has restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops oriented toward cruise tourism. Access from Pyrgos (10 km). Olympia 30 min away.
Cruise ship and ferry traffic — do not sail in shipping channels. Rocks around the Katakolo cape. Currents around the cape. Pleasure and fishing boats.
NW Maestro channeled by the Katakolo cape. The cape creates an acceleration effect on its south side. Typical strength: 12-20 knots in summer. W/WSW thermal breeze complements the Maestro on light wind days. On cruise ship days, maritime activity is intense — be vigilant.
