Beck Lake Lower is a small lake on the outskirts of Cody, at the foot of the Absaroka Range in northwestern Wyoming. This compact urban lake offers easy kitesurf access for Cody residents. Regular katabatic winds descend from the Absaroka Range in the afternoon. Small lake but sufficient for learning and practice. City park with parking and amenities. Season from June to September.

Cool freshwater. Water temperature from 0°C in winter (frozen) to 20°C in summer. Small and shallow lake. Muddy to sandy bottom. Limited fetch. Short chop. Full 4/3 wetsuit recommended. Elevation 1,549m.
Small lake: risk of hitting bottom and drifting to shore. Mountain thunderstorms with lightning — exit water immediately. Katabatic winds can increase rapidly. Cold water. Urban proximity: watch for swimmers and anglers. Black bears possible on the outskirts.
