Cowes is a kitesurfing spot located on the north coast of Phillip Island, in Victoria. This small seaside town offers a sheltered beach in Western Port Bay, with a relatively calm body of water suited for beginners and intermediate riders. Cowes is the main town on Phillip Island, famous for its penguin parade. Prevailing southwest to west winds blow offshore to cross-shore on this north-facing beach. North and northwest winds are more favorable for this spot. The body of water in the bay is generally flat, with shallow areas at low tide. Cowes has numerous shops, restaurants, and accommodation. Parking is easy in the town center. Watch out for swimming zones in summer and boats in the bay.
