Cotillo Lagos (also known as Toston Lagoon) is a small, beautiful flat water lagoon located just below the El Toston lighthouse, north of El Cotillo village on Fuerteventura's northwest coast.
The lagoon is shallow (~1m deep) with a white sandy bottom and crystal-clear turquoise water. When the wind blows and the water level is sufficient, it's a miniature flat water paradise — perfect for freestyle practice in a stunning setting.
The space is very limited, so only a handful of kiters can ride at once. The surrounding area is rocky, making entry and exit a challenge.
Ultra-flat water, ~1m deep, white sandy bottom. Freestyle paradise when conditions align. Very limited space — 2–4 kites maximum.
Not a beginner spot due to rocks and limited space. Best for intermediate–advanced freestylers wanting butter-flat water.
Flat lagoon, ~1m deep, white sand. Crystal-clear. Water 18–23°C. Reef boots essential.

Open all year round
Year-round when wind and water level cooperate. Best May–September for consistent wind.
Located below the El Toston lighthouse, north of El Cotillo village. Drive to the lighthouse and park nearby. Short walk down to the lagoon.
No facilities. Bring everything. El Cotillo village has restaurants and basic services.
Very limited space: only a few kites can fit. Kiteloops and big jumps are risky.
Rocky surroundings: sharp volcanic rocks around the lagoon. Getting in/out of the water requires care. Reef boots essential.
Shallow: can become too shallow at low tide. Rocks may be hidden under water.
Best with NE wind (trade wind). 15–25 knots. The lagoon's small size makes it manageable even in stronger wind.
