Farø is a small island in the Storstrømmen strait, between Sjælland and Falster, connected by the Farø bridges. The spot is on the causeway toward Bogø, with flat water areas on both sides. The frequent Venturi effect means Farø often has wind when other Sjælland spots are calm. The shallow water over the sandbanks provides a large rideable area.
Choppy water in the strait with current. Sandy bottom with shallow areas over the sandbanks. Current can be strong in the main channel and varies with tides and wind direction. Short chop formed when wind opposes current.
Advanced
Stones scattered in the water, especially between the two small bays on the left side. Fishing nets in the water. The Storstrøm bridge is a serious hazard on the offshore side with drift risk. Strong currents in the Storstrømmen strait. Maritime traffic under the bridges. EU Bird Protection Area: from June to August, ride only north of Farø.
