Pateros is a kitesurfing spot at the confluence of the Methow River and the Columbia River in central Washington State, at 241m elevation. This mountain spot offers a river body of water surrounded by semi-arid hills. Winds channeled through the Methow and Columbia valleys provide rideable conditions. Lake Pateros (reservoir) offers a wider body of water. Spectacular interior mountain landscape of Washington.

Reservoir / river confluence with fresh water. Variable temperature (8-20°C/46-68°F depending on season). A 3/2 to 4/3mm wetsuit. Flat water to light chop. Moderate current at the confluence. Rocky to sandy bottom. Narrow body of water in river sections, wider in the reservoir.
Valley winds can be gusty. Current at the river confluence. Cold water in spring and fall. Isolated mountain spot with few services. Wildfire risk in summer — check conditions. Significant summer heat in this semi-arid area.
