Spot functioning

Spring/Summer (April-September): BEST SEASON. Thermal E to SE (ideal ESE), picks up ~14-15h until sunset. 16-18 kts average, up to 20+ kts on strong afternoons. Thermal blows stronger here than elsewhere due to coastal configuration. Consistent every afternoon with sunny weather.
Autumn: Transition, still thermal days. Llevant E storms = bigger waves (El Dorado/Estany spot south of Júcar river famous for huge NE/E storm waves).
Winter (November-March): No thermal. Switch to Punta Molins (Dénia), 10 min south.

On the water

Small chop to perfect 0.5m waves with strong thermal — ideal for strapless, surfing and jumping. Sandy bottom, no rocks. Plenty of room to launch. Dune landscape with clear waters. Water 23-27°C summer (boardshort), 14-17°C winter (4/3). No significant current except river mouth.

Parking

Access via road parallel to the river. Campings, apartments, hotels available in Oliva area. F-One Proshopcenter in the area. Free parking near the beach. From Valencia: AP-7 south ~1h. From Alicante: AP-7 north ~1.5h.

Hazards

⚠️ Kite restricted in summer outside authorized areas — respect marked zones.
⚠️ River mouth — watch for current and debris after rain.
⚠️ Thermal can get gusty close to shore on strong days — steadier further out.

Wind specificities

Garbí/ESE thermal — THE wind. E to SE, ideal ESE. Side-onshore. 16-20 kts, peaks to 25 kts strong days. Picks up ~14-15h, lasts until sunset. Blows stronger here than neighboring spots due to coastal geography amplifying the thermal. Spring strongest. Kites 9-12m (75kg).
Llebeig (SW) — Also thermal. Less common but good conditions.
Llevant (E) — Onshore. Waves, autumn/winter storms. More advanced.
Gregal (NE) — Storm waves, winter. Famous E/NE waves at nearby El Dorado beach (south of Júcar river).
⚠️ Winter: no thermal — go to Punta Molins for terral W/NW.
