Overview

Playa de San Lorenzo is Gijón's main beach — a long crescent of sand in the heart of the city. Birthplace of surf in Asturias. North-facing, receives NW-W Atlantic swells. NE summer wind cross-onshore. Urban beach with full amenities, promenade, restaurants. Very crowded in summer — kite space limited. Intermediate. Big tidal range affects conditions significantly.
