Laredo / Playa de la Salvé is one of the longest beaches in northern Spain — 4.25 km of sand stretching from the old port to El Puntal, the sand spit framing the Santoña bay. One of only two spots in Cantabria that works with E wind (the other being Sardinero). Dozens of kiters on windy days — spectacular sight. Near the Marismas de Santoña, Victoria y Joyel natural park (bird marshes).
E wind: Onshore, spring/summer. Stable, anticyclonic. Any tide. Navigate parallel to the beach at El Puntal end.
NE: Side-on, spring/summer. Works well.
W/NW: Navigate from the Regatón zone. Storm winds, winter.
Sandy bottom. Small to medium waves depending on conditions. Sheltered bay — less powerful than open ocean beaches. Water 14-21°C. 3/2 summer, 4/3 winter.
