Bluewater Bay is a flat water spot located in the northern part of Algoa Bay, in Port Elizabeth. The water is sheltered in a shallow bay, offering flat water conditions ideal for beginners. This is PE's teaching spot, used by kite schools for lessons. The bay is protected from ocean swell by its position in the northern corner of Algoa Bay. One of the few flat water spots in the PE area.
The spot works with a wide range of wind directions (NE to W). Flat water sheltered from swell. Shallow — ideal for learning. Tide affects water level — high tide is preferable. Used as a teaching spot by PE kite schools. Good for freestyle and flat water foiling.
Flat water in the sheltered bay. Sandy bottom, shallow (0.3-1.5 metres). Light chop in strong wind. No waves. Warm water, warmer than the south coast (19-24°C). Shorty wetsuit or lycra in summer.

Open all year round
Parking in the Bluewater Bay suburb. Access from the N2 heading north from PE. Parking by the water. Some facilities in the residential area. Kite schools set up in season.
Very few dangers. Very shallow areas at low tide. Limited space shared between kiters and students. Muddy bottom in some areas. Wind can be strong even in this sheltered area.
Wind works from many directions thanks to the bay configuration. NE, E and SE reach the spot with good fetch. SW and W blow along the coast. PE "Windy City" — reliable wind in summer, 15-25 knots. The spot is less exposed than the south coast but still receives wind well.
