Tonel is the beach at the foot of the Sagres fortress — nicknamed "the end of the world", the most southwestern point of Europe. Dramatic cliffs, powerful waves, and extremely exposed to Atlantic swells.
Kiting is possible but conditions are challenging: strong currents, rocks, and confused swell patterns. Works with N-NW wind. Expert only. More famous as a surf spot. The sunsets from the fortress are legendary.
