Costa Nova is the main lagoon kite spot of the Ria de Aveiro system, located between Porto and Figueira da Foz. The Ria de Aveiro is a large inland stretch of water just 100m from the Atlantic — flat, shallow and ideal for learning kite in safe conditions.

Two main wind directions: North (summer, steady and reliable March-October) and South (winter, gusty and shifty). The lagoon works with most wind directions thanks to its size and orientation.

Costa Nova is famous for its colorful striped houses (palheiros) — one of Portugal's most iconic images. Charming village with restaurants and cafés. 45 min from Porto, Coimbra, Viseu or Figueira da Foz.

The ocean side (Praia da Costa Nova) offers waves for the adventurous. The lagoon side offers mirror-flat water for beginners and freestylers.
