The Hatchery is a kitesurfing spot on the Columbia River in the Gorge, on the Washington side, named after the nearby fish hatchery. This area is in the most active thermal wind zone of the Gorge, near White Salmon and Bingen. The river offers flat water to formed chop conditions. Westerly thermal winds are powerful and consistent from June through September. Well-known spot in the Gorge community.

Powerful thermal winds with frequent gusts. Columbia River current. Barge and boat traffic. Submerged rocks along the shores. Proximity to the fish hatchery — respect restricted areas. Spot can be crowded in peak season.
