Overview

Boca Chica / Brazos Island is a kitesurf spot located at the extreme southern tip of Texas, on Boca Chica Beach south of Brazos Santiago Pass. It's the southernmost beach in Texas, facing the Gulf of Mexico, just a few miles from the Mexican border. The area is wild and undeveloped, also known for the nearby SpaceX Starbase launch site. Conditions are oceanic with current at the pass. Isolated spot reserved for experienced riders.

Gulf of Mexico oceanic conditions. Waves possible in SE/S swell. Sandy bottom. Warm water. Significant tidal currents at Brazos Santiago Pass. The pass creates technical conditions. The beach is long and wild, offering plenty of space.

Very strong tidal currents at Brazos Santiago Pass. Very isolated area — no rescue nearby. Sharks frequent. Jellyfish. Beach may be closed during SpaceX launches. Access road sometimes in poor condition. Mexican border nearby — do not drift southward. Snakes possible in the dunes.
