Holly Beach is a kitesurf spot located on the mainland side of the Laguna Madre, near Laguna Vista, facing South Padre Island. This spot offers access to the Laguna Madre from the western shore, with flat water conditions on the vast shallow flats. The advantage of this side is direct car access without crossing the bridge to SPI. The view of the island and sunset over the Laguna is spectacular.
Open all year round
Intermediate
Shallow Laguna Madre waters on the mainland side. Variable bottom, sandy to muddy depending on the area. Flat water. Hypersaline and warm water. East fetch (toward SPI) is significant, which can create chop in west wind. Good area for freeride and cruising the flats.
Sometimes muddy bottom that can trap feet. Stingrays. Intense sun and extreme heat in summer. Mosquitoes possible on the mainland side. Few facilities nearby. Fishing boat traffic in the Laguna.
