North Flats / South Padre Island is a kitesurf spot on the northern flats of the Laguna Madre, the bay side of SPI. This area offers the same flat water conditions as the other Laguna flats, with hard sand bottom and ultra-shallow water. Located further north than South Banks, this spot is often slightly less crowded. The SE wind is constant and reliable from March to September, with sessions possible year-round.

Ultra-shallow Laguna Madre water. Hard sand bottom, you can stand everywhere. Perfectly flat water. Hypersaline and warm water. Ideal conditions for freestyle, wakestyle, and learning. More space than southern spots, less crowded.
Stingrays — stingray shuffle mandatory. Very intense sun, sunscreen and hydration essential. Extreme heat in summer. Remote from facilities and rescue. Bring water and phone.
