South Flats is a kitesurf spot on the Laguna Madre flats, the bay side of South Padre Island. Located between Dolphin Cove and the North Flats, this spot offers the same exceptional flat water conditions with ultra-shallow water and hard sand bottom. The area is slightly less crowded than the more famous spots, offering more space. The dominant SE wind is side-shore for this spot, ideal for kiting.

Ultra-shallow Laguna Madre water, hard sand bottom. Perfect flat water conditions. You can stand everywhere. Hypersaline water, warm year-round. Less crowded than adjacent spots. Excellent for freestyle and progression.
Stingrays — stingray shuffle mandatory. Very intense sun. Extreme summer heat, bring enough water. Little shade and relative isolation from rescue. Tide can further reduce water level, making riding difficult in some areas.
