Overview

Neahkahnie Beach is a kitesurfing spot at the foot of Neahkahnie Mountain, on Oregon's north coast. This beach offers a spectacular setting dominated by the 490-meter mountain that plunges into the ocean. The spot sits between Manzanita to the south and the Neahkahnie cliffs to the north. The beach is exposed to Pacific swells and benefits from regular thermal winds. Neahkahnie Mountain is surrounded by legends of buried Spanish treasure, adding mystery to the location.

Cold water year-round (10-14°C), 4/3 wetsuit essential in summer, 5/3 in winter. Waves of 1 to 2.5 meters with powerful northwest swell. Sandy bottom on the main beach but rocks at the mountain base. Rip currents present, especially on outgoing tide. Neahkahnie Mountain can create local wind effects with acceleration and turbulence.
