Avon Oceanside is the Atlantic-facing spot of Avon village on Hatteras Island. Avon is the largest village on Hatteras Island with shops, restaurants and accommodations. The ocean beach is wide and exposed to east swells. It's a good intermediate wave kiting spot, easily accessible on foot from the village. Several beach accesses are available along the village. Avon kitesurfers have the advantage of easily switching between ocean and sound (Canadian Hole, Kite Point) depending on conditions.
