Cannon Beach is one of Oregon coast's most iconic spots, dominated by the famous Haystack Rock, a 72-meter basalt monolith classified as a natural monument. This wide sandy beach attracts millions of visitors each year. For kitesurfing, the beach offers vast space with northwest thermal winds in summer, but heavy tourist traffic and rock formations require constant vigilance. Access is easy with numerous parking areas in town.
Cold water year-round (10-14°C), 4/3 wetsuit essential in summer, 5/3 in winter. Regular waves of 1 to 2.5 meters with powerful northwest swell. Sandy bottom on the main beach but massive rocks around Haystack Rock and the Needles. Significant rip currents, especially on outgoing tide. Low tide exposes tide pools around Haystack Rock, expanding beach space but creating obstacles.

Extremely busy tourist area: maximum attention to pedestrians, children, dogs, and photographers on the beach. Powerful rip currents. Massive driftwood. Very cold water risking hypothermia.
