Wrightsville Beach South End is the main kitesurfing spot at Wrightsville Beach, the most popular beach in the Wilmington area. The barrier island's southern end, near Masonboro Inlet, is the preferred kitesurfing area. Wrightsville Beach is a lively beach town with a strong surf culture. The beach faces southeast with good swell exposure. Masonboro Inlet to the south creates sandbars and interesting wave conditions. It's the most active kite spot in southern North Carolina.

Strong tidal currents at Masonboro Inlet — don't ride in the inlet. Rip currents frequent. Strong shore break at high tide. Stingrays. Jellyfish in summer. Very busy swimming zone in summer — strictly respect zones. Afternoon thunderstorms possible in summer. Strict local regulations — check kite rules at Wrightsville.
