Nags Head is the main tourist town of the Outer Banks, located on Bodie Island. The ocean beach is long and wide, exposed to Atlantic swells. Nags Head is a premier surf and kitesurf destination on the US East Coast. The town offers all amenities: hotels, restaurants, surf/kite shops, and lively nightlife in season. The Nags Head Fishing Pier is an iconic landmark. Kitesurfing is practiced on the ocean beach when wind conditions are favorable (NE to SE). The island is also very close to the sound for flat water sessions.

Rip currents frequent — Nags Head is known for its currents. Powerful shore break. Stingrays in shallow water. Jellyfish in summer. Pier proximity — ride at safe distance. Busy swimming zone in summer — respect swim zones and flags. Afternoon thunderstorms possible in summer.
