Rodanthe Oceanside is the Atlantic-facing spot of Rodanthe, the northernmost village of the tri-village section of Hatteras Island. The beach is exposed to Atlantic swells and offers good wave conditions. Rodanthe is known as one of the best surf spots in the Outer Banks. The spot is intermediate with regular waves and shore break to manage. Access is from the village with several beach entry points. The famous Rodanthe Pier (or its remains) is a local landmark.
Atlantic ocean waves with NE to SE swells. Moderate to strong shore break depending on swell size. Sandy bottom with sandbars creating good sections for wave kiting and surfing. Best conditions are in NE to E side-offshore to side-shore winds. Longshore current present — watch your drift along the beach.

Rip currents frequent along this beach. Powerful shore break at high tide. Stingrays in shallow water. Sea nettles (jellyfish) in summer. Pier proximity — maintain safe distance from structures. Violent afternoon thunderstorms possible in summer with lightning. Active erosion zone — beach shape can change rapidly after storms.
