SDA (Seventh Day Adventist) is a soundside spot located between the villages of Waves and Salvo on Hatteras Island. The name comes from a former Seventh Day Adventist community camp in the area. The spot provides access to Pamlico Sound with flat and shallow water. It's an intermediate spot as access can be a bit more complicated and the bottom features oyster banks. Popular with locals looking for a less crowded spot than the main village accesses.
Open all year round
Intermediate
Flat water on Pamlico Sound — good conditions for freeride and freestyle. Shallow depth but bottom can feature more pronounced oyster banks than other spots. Mixed sand/seagrass/oyster bottom. Conditions are good in all wind directions, the body of water being 360° exposed.
Sharp oyster banks more pronounced in this area — water shoes essential. Stingrays present. Sea nettles (jellyfish) in summer. Violent afternoon thunderstorms possible in summer. Less frequented spot — ride with a buddy. Access slightly more difficult than main village spots.
