Windsurfers Beach is the historic kitesurf spot on Lake Hefner, Oklahoma City's urban reservoir and the state's main kite spot. This 10 km² lake offers powerful and consistent south winds, characteristic of "Tornado Alley." Oklahoma City is one of the windiest cities in the United States. Windsurfers Beach has good water access on the north side of the lake. Active and established kite community. Season from April to November.
Freshwater with variable visibility. Water temperature from 5°C in winter to 28°C in summer. Muddy to sandy bottom. Moderate chop in sustained south winds. Generally stable lake level. Shorty or rashguard in summer, full 4/3 wetsuit in spring/fall.

TORNADOES: Oklahoma is in the heart of Tornado Alley — monitor weather constantly and exit water immediately if tornado warning issued. Violent thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and destructive winds frequent from April to June. Powerful south winds often exceeding 30 knots. Sailboat and motorboat traffic. Water moccasin snakes in coves.
