Tolovana Beach is located just south of Cannon Beach, on Oregon's north coast. This spot offers a wide, open beach with views of the famous Haystack Rock, one of the most photographed coastal monoliths in the world. The beach is exposed to North Pacific swells and benefits from reliable northwest thermal winds in summer. Access is easy from the Tolovana Beach State Recreation Site with a large parking area.
Cold water year-round (10-14°C), 4/3 wetsuit essential in summer, 5/3 with hood and gloves in winter. Regular waves of 1 to 2.5 meters, with powerful sets during northwest swells. Sandy bottom on the main beach but rocks around Haystack Rock and the Needles. Significant rip currents, especially on outgoing tide. Conditions are best at mid-outgoing tide.
