Campground Oceanside is the ocean side of the NPS campground on Ocracoke Island. By crossing the dunes from the campground, you access a wild and completely pristine ocean beach. It's the ideal spot for campers who want to combine flat water sessions on the sound side with wave sessions on the ocean side. The beach is wide and exposed to Atlantic swells. Wave conditions are excellent and you'll often have the beach to yourself. The island being ferry-access only, crowds remain low even in peak season.
Atlantic ocean waves with NE to SE swells. Moderate to powerful shore break. Sandy bottom with shifting sandbars. Best conditions in NE to SE side-shore winds. Immense and virtually deserted beach. Possibility of switching from sound side (flat) to ocean side (waves) in a few minutes' walk through the campground.
