Skeleton Hill Island is located on the west (bay) side of Sandy Hook, facing Sandy Hook Bay. This spot offers flat and sheltered waters, very different from the ocean side. The bay offers ideal conditions for beginners and intermediates with few waves. Access via the Gateway National Recreation Area.

Shallow areas at low tide. Moderate tidal currents. Muddy bottom can be difficult to walk in. Boat traffic in the bay.
