Salter Path / Emerald Isle is a soundside spot on Bogue Banks, in the Salter Path community between Indian Beach and Emerald Isle. The spot faces Bogue Sound, offering flat and shallow water conditions. Salter Path is a small historic fishing community on the island. Bogue Sound is ideal for flat water kitesurfing, wingfoil and windsurfing. The body of water is sheltered by the barrier island and offers conditions suitable for beginners and freestyle.

Flat water on Bogue Sound. Shallow depth over a large area. Sandy bottom. The sound is tide-influenced — at low tide, areas can become very shallow. Water is warm in summer. Predictable and consistent conditions, ideal for learning and freestyle.
Light tidal current. Stingrays present. Jellyfish in summer. Sharp shells possible — water shoes recommended. Afternoon thunderstorms possible in summer. Boat traffic possible on Bogue Sound.
