Meia Praia is Lagos' main city beach — a magnificent 5 km stretch of golden sand on the west side of the Alvor lagoon entrance. It's the ocean counterpart to the flat Ria de Alvor lagoon just behind.
Conditions are more open ocean — some chop and small waves with the Nortada blowing slightly offshore (NW-N). Rarely gets too intense, making it a safe spot for beginners who want to step up from the lagoon, and a popular freeride option for intermediates.
The beach is walking distance from Lagos centre. All amenities — restaurants, bars, showers. Lagos is one of the Algarve's most vibrant towns with a young, international atmosphere and multiple kite camps nearby.
Close to the Ria de Alvor — kiters typically ride the lagoon at mid-high tide and switch to Meia Praia when needed.
Wind: Nortada NW-N, 15-25 knots afternoons April-September. Best season: May to September.

Open all year round
