Overview

Troon South Beach is one of the most popular kitesurfing spots on the Scottish west coast, located in the seaside town of Troon in Ayrshire. The west-facing sandy beach offers views of the Isle of Arran and benefits from the prevailing south-west winds. The body of water is relatively sheltered by the Isle of Arran offshore, limiting wave size while maintaining good wind.

Parking
Parking along the South Beach promenade, easily accessible from Troon town centre. Also parking at Troon Marina. The town is well served by train from Glasgow (40 min) and by the A77/A78 road.
Hazards
Maritime traffic in the channel towards Troon harbour — stay away from the port area. Submerged rocks near the harbour. Tidal currents along the coast. Swimmers in summer on the main beach.
