Overview

The North spot of Schiermonnikoog is located on the north coast of the island, directly facing the open North Sea. Less sheltered than the West/Paal 3, with more direct waves and stronger current. Reserved for experienced riders seeking wilder conditions. Even wider and more deserted beach. Kite allowed all year round (North Sea). Kite prohibited on the Wadden Sea side.

Accessible by bicycle from the village (further than Paal 3). No facilities on site. Advanced level minimum. Always go with a buddy — rescue takes longer on this isolated part of the island.

Wind specificities
SW/W/NW: best directions — direct waves from the North Sea. More powerful and less filtered conditions than at Paal 3. NE/N: onshore waves — more technical. Tidal current more pronounced than on the rest of the island.
Hazards
More exposed area than the West spot (Paal 3) — stronger current, less protective lagoon. Kite prohibited on the Wad side. Advanced spot — reserved for experienced riders. Few people = longer rescue time.
