Marsdiep is the tidal strait separating Den Helder from the island of Texel, the gateway to the Wadden Sea. This is a raw, exposed spot with powerful North Sea conditions, intense tidal currents and regular maritime traffic. Only experienced kiters with local knowledge should attempt this spot.
The spot offers access to one of the more adventurous kite experiences in the Netherlands — open water, sea views to Texel, and the historic naval town of Den Helder as backdrop. SW to NW winds are onshore here.

⚠️ Marsdiep is the tidal strait between Den Helder and the island of Texel — one of the fastest tidal currents in the Netherlands (up to 3 knots). Never kite here without thorough local knowledge.
⚠️ Intense maritime traffic: ferries to Texel, navy vessels and commercial shipping. Strictly stay out of the navigation channel.
⚠️ Expert/advanced level only — strong currents, deep water, shipping traffic.
