Camperduin (Schoorl) is a versatile North Sea spot with two distinct riding areas: the open sea and a unique lagoon tucked behind the Hondsbossche Zeewering dike. The sea offers beautiful wave lines from north swell, ideal for wave riding and freestyle. The lagoon — oriented north-south, flat and very shallow — is one of the finest flatwater spots in the Netherlands, perfect for freestyle when Schellinkhout is crowded. Lagoon closed 1 May–1 October (Natura 2000 bird protection). The sea side is accessible year-round. Strong currents on the sea side — not suitable for beginners or lessons. Wind can be gusty in the lagoon due to its position behind the dunes.

Option 1: Camperduin car park — €1/35 min, day rate low season €3, high season €6.
Option 2: Hargen aan Zee car park (1 March–1 November) — €1.95/hr, max €6/day. Both give good access to beach and lagoon.
The lagoon works exclusively with westerly wind (N-S lagoon orientation). The sea works with SW, W, NW, N and occasionally NNW. Wind arrives clean and steady off the sea — little turbulence. Beautiful north swell waves in strong NW winds.
Strong sea currents — not suitable for lessons or beginners on the sea side. Stone breakwaters on the beach: be careful not to lose ground with cross-onshore SW wind or you risk being pushed onto the dike. Lagoon: gusty winds due to dune shadow. Submerged groynes at low tide. Lagoon closed 1 May–1 October (Natura 2000 — fines apply).
