Barcola is a spot located on the lungomare of Trieste, capital of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. This urban seafront faces the Gulf of Trieste, with views of Miramare Castle and the Slovenian coast.

Trieste is famous for its Bora, a katabatic north-easterly wind among the most powerful in Europe. This cold and violent wind can blow at over 100 km/h. In moderate Bora conditions (15-25 knots), conditions are excellent for kiting. The Scirocco (SE) also works well in the gulf.
