Overview

Lignano Sabbiadoro is the largest seaside resort in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located on a peninsula between the Marano lagoon and the Adriatic Sea. The long golden sand beach (hence the name "Sabbiadoro") stretches for 8 km. The spot catches the Bora (NE) and the Scirocco (SE). The peninsula offers two sides: the Adriatic beach facing east and the lagoon side to the west (flat water). It is a complete destination for wind sports.

Numerous car parks along the Lignano seafront. Paid in summer. Wide choice in this large seaside resort. Accessible by car from the A4 motorway.
Hazards
Offshore Bora which can be very strong. Shore break in Scirocco. Currents at the lagoon mouth. Very crowded beach in summer. Respect the kite zones.
