Ulua Beach is located in the Wailea area on Maui's south coast, between luxury resorts. This golden sand beach is one of Wailea's most popular spots for snorkeling and swimming. Northeast trade winds are channeled and accelerated by Haleakala, blowing from the north/northeast in the afternoon. The spot offers conditions suitable for intermediate riders. The beach is well-maintained with showers, restrooms, and parking. The spot is near Polo Beach and Keawakapu with similar conditions.
Warm water year-round (23-27°C/73-80°F), no wetsuit needed — a lycra is sufficient. The bottom is a mix of sand and coral reef. Water is moderately choppy in strong winds. Moderate lateral currents. Area heavily used by snorkelers and swimmers — vigilance required. Conditions similar to neighboring Wailea spots.

Protected sea turtles (honu) — legal distance required. Sharks (tiger sharks) occasionally reported off Wailea. Humpback whales from December to April — federal law requires 100 yards distance.
