Access is via the road connecting Grand Isle to the mainland.
Gulf side: waves possible in south or southeast swell, moderate surf conditions. Warm water (28-30°C in summer). Sandy bottom. Bay side (north): flatter and more protected water, good for freestyle. Longshore currents present along the beach. Low amplitude tides but influencing conditions.
