Cocoa Beach is a legendary kitesurfing and surfing spot located on the Space Coast's Atlantic coast, facing east. Made famous by surfing and the TV series "I Dream of Jeannie," this sandy beach offers wave and chop conditions in easterly trade winds. It's the perfect ocean complement to the nearby lagoon spots (520 Slick) — lagoon for flat water, Cocoa Beach for waves. The town is lively with the famous Ron Jon Surf Shop and numerous restaurants. The atmosphere is typically Floridian "surf town."
The water body faces the Atlantic with sandy bottom. In easterly trade winds, waves of 1.5-5 feet are regular. In northeast swells (cold fronts), conditions become more powerful. The water is warm. Sandbars create well-shaped wave sections. Cocoa Beach is one of the best wave spots in Florida for kiting.
