87th Street Miami Beach (Surfside) is a kitesurfing spot located at the northern end of Miami Beach, at the border with Surfside. Facing the Atlantic, this section of beach is quieter and more residential than the southern areas. The easterly trade winds offer moderate chop and wave conditions. The Surfside/North Beach neighborhood is appreciated for its more family-friendly and less touristy atmosphere. It's a good access point for daily sessions by local riders.
Open all year round
Intermediate
The water body faces the Atlantic with a sandy bottom. Conditions similar to other Miami Beach spots: chop and small waves in trade winds. The water is warm and clear. The beach is less crowded than to the south, offering more space for kite launching and landing.
Check local regulations on authorized kite zones. Longshore drift currents possible. In westerly winds, conditions are offshore — do not ride. Watch for swimmers even though the beach is less crowded.
