DuPont Bridge (Hathaway Bridge) is a kitesurfing spot located on the bridge connecting Panama City to Panama City Beach, spanning St. Andrew Bay. Like other bridge/causeway spots in Florida, it offers water on both sides, allowing riding in all winds. St. Andrew Bay is relatively shallow with flat water to chop conditions. The spot is popular in north winds (when gulf beaches are offshore) as the bay provides a protected water body. Local vibe.
Open all year round
Intermediate
St. Andrew Bay's water body is moderately deep with sandy and muddy bottom. In north winds, the bay offers good fetch and moderate chop conditions. In south winds, the south side of the bridge offers calmer water. The water is warm but can be murky in the bay.
Tidal currents in the bay, particularly near the bridge. Boat traffic is heavy. Do not ride between bridge pilings. Depth can be significant in the channel — self-rescue ability needed. Road traffic on the bridge — be careful during launch/landing.
