Overview

Jacksonville Beach is the main beach of the city of Jacksonville, on the Atlantic coast of northeast Florida. The long east-facing sandy beach offers good kitesurfing conditions with northeast (nor'easters) and southeast winds. The spot is popular for surfing and kitesurfing. Jacksonville is the largest city by area in the continental United States, and its beach offers ample space for riding.

Atlantic Ocean waters with moderate to strong waves. Sandy bottom with variable sandbars. Significant north-south longshore current. North Atlantic swell, especially in winter with nor'easters. Cooler water than south Florida, especially in winter.

Frequent longshore and rip currents. Powerful shore break waves. Sharks present — one of the areas with highest shark concentration in Florida. Frequent jellyfish. The Jacksonville Beach Pier creates a hazard zone — maintain safe distance.
