Crandon Beach Park is a kitesurfing spot located on the east coast of Key Biscayne, facing the Atlantic Ocean. This magnificent white sand beach lined with palm trees offers a postcard tropical setting. The spot benefits from an east-facing exposure that perfectly captures the trade winds, with conditions ranging from chop to small waves depending on wind strength. Crandon Park is a well-maintained public park with parking, showers and facilities. It's the ocean alternative to Hobie Beach (bay side), offering more dynamic conditions for intermediate riders.
Open all year round
Intermediate
The water body faces the Atlantic with a gradually sloping sandy bottom. In easterly trade winds, conditions offer moderate chop with possible small waves. In southeast or south winds, a short swell can come in. The water is warm and turquoise. A sandbar offshore sometimes creates a protected flat water area at low tide. The riding area is extensive along the beach.
Respect swimming zones marked by buoys — the beach is very popular. Longshore drift currents are possible in heavy swells. In westerly winds, conditions are offshore — do not ride. The park closes at a fixed time in the evening — plan time to pack up gear. Park entry fee required. Jellyfish may be present.
