Alcan Beach is located in Kitimat, at the head of the Douglas Channel, a long fjord on BC's north coast. The spot faces south toward the fjord mouth. Kitimat is an industrial town founded by Alcan (aluminum). SE wind blows up the fjord. Very remote and little-known spot, in a northern temperate rainforest landscape. Short season (June to September).

Brackish water in the fjord. Flat to choppy water. Fetch limited by fjord width but channelled along its length. Mud bottom. Cold water (8-14°C). Tidal current in the fjord.
Very remote spot — Kitimat is 650 km north of Vancouver. Very cold water (full wetsuit required). Industrial marine traffic (tankers, barges). Tidal currents in the fjord. Bears and wildlife frequent. Rain common.
