Lighthouse Point is a kitesurfing spot located at the eastern tip of Sanibel Island, near the historic Sanibel Lighthouse. This point offers water on multiple sides — San Carlos Bay to the north/east and the Gulf of Mexico to the south/west. Most wind directions work thanks to this multiple exposure. The Sanibel Lighthouse (1884) is an iconic landmark. The spot combines bay access (flat) and gulf access (waves) depending on wind direction. Sanibel is an island renowned for its preserved nature and seashells.
The water body varies depending on the chosen side: bay side (north/east) for flat water, gulf side (south/west) for waves. The bottom is sandy. Depth increases rapidly on the gulf side. Tidal currents are present at the point. The water is warm and clear.
