Fort Myers South Beach is a kitesurfing spot located on Estero Island (Fort Myers Beach), facing the Gulf of Mexico. This popular barrier island offers a long white sand beach facing west. In west to northwest winds, conditions are flat to lightly choppy. Fort Myers Beach is a family tourist destination with numerous restaurants and accommodations along Estero Boulevard. The spot was impacted by Hurricane Ian in 2022 but reconstruction is progressing.
The water body faces the Gulf of Mexico with sandy bottom. In westerly winds, flat to light chop conditions. The gulf water is warm and calm. Sandbars offshore create protected areas. In southwest winds, small waves can form.
