Coco Plum Beach is a kitesurfing spot located in Marathon in the Middle Keys, on the Atlantic (south) coast. This small beach offers direct ocean access with turquoise waters and a sandy bottom. The spot benefits from easterly trade winds as side-shore and south winds as onshore. Less crowded than nearby Sombrero Beach, Coco Plum offers a quieter alternative for sessions. Its position in the Middle Keys provides quick access to Marathon and its services.
Open all year round
Intermediate
The water body faces the Atlantic with a sandy bottom. In easterly trade winds, conditions offer moderate chop. In south winds, short waves can form. The water is warm and clear year-round. Depth increases gradually from shore. The tide influences conditions — at low tide, shallow sand areas appear along the coast.
Tidal currents can drift riders along the coast. Watch for underwater coral reefs offshore. In northerly winds, conditions are offshore — do not ride. Sun protection is essential. Jellyfish and Portuguese man-o-war may be present in summer.
