Big Beach (Makena Beach) is a spectacular spot located on the southwest coast of Maui. This large golden sand beach is exposed to the trade winds that wrap around West Maui Mountain. Wind conditions are less consistent than on the north coast, but when the trade winds blow strong, the spot offers waves and a challenging water area. The powerful shore break and currents make it a spot reserved for advanced riders.
